ZigBee Alliance was organized to design upper layer
of IEEE802.15.4 (LR-WPAN) as a non profit organization.
ZigBee Alliance proceeds industry standardization for security,
network layer, application lower layer, marketing and detail profiles
based on PHY, MAC standard of IEEE 802.15.4 for standard based safe
data transmission.
By using this, ZigBee profile will provide interoperability and
compatibility between similar devices made by different vendors.
ZigBee Alliance consists of 7 Working Groups of Marketing, Architecture
Framework, Network, Qualification, Security, Gateway, Application
and 7 Promoter companies (Philips, Motorola, Honeywell, Ember, Freescale,
Invensys, Mitubish) and 120 Participant companies.
ZigBee Alliance proceeds industrial standardization by holding Member
Meeting and Open House in every quarter. In Dec, 2004, ZigBee Alliance
Meeting and Open House were held in Seoul under the sponsorship
of Samsung electronics, KETI, Korea wireless network inc.
ZigBee protocol stack spec 1.0 was announced in JAN, 2005.
